General Information for Donors - The Kindhearted Folks Who Help Us Keep People With Diabetes Alive (until there's a cure)Our corporate philosophy is simple ... "Is there a need? And, if so, how can we help?" We hope that you, too will ask "how can I help? Because so many others need us ... we need you! |
Financial Donations
Financial donors give cash or other other monetary donations (like bequests). In some cases, a discount may also be considered a cash donation. Most of our cash donations come from our own board members. We are very grateful for all the supply donations we received, but rent, phone, insurance, and shipping cost us a lot of money. In three years, iPump's full time volunteers have never been paid a salary.
We are a fully-recognized, tax-exempt organization. You financial donations are tax-deductible.
Gift-In-Kind Donations
Gift In-Kind (GIK) donors give a tangible donation like diabetes supplies, insulin pumps, office supplies, books, products, fabric, etc.

What is the Difference Between Sponsors and Affiliates?
- Sponsors - Contribute financially or with in-kind donations of services to meet a specific need or service for the organization (i.e. administrative costs, website maintenance, rent, etc.) Our Sponsors | Website Sponsors
- Affiliates - Are companies we partner with. We advertise their product or service on our site for free and in return they give us a commission for any sales made through our site. Our Affiliates
We are truly, truly grateful to our many supporters. Without help from others we could not continue giving assistance to diabetics in need.
Why Support Our Organization Instead of Another?
Nearly 1 in every 523 children and teens in the U.S. has diabetes. Most are non-Hispanic whites with type 1 diabetes. And, 20.8 million people, or 7% of the total population now has type 2 diabetes. Before the recession of 2008/20 approximately 1/3 of all patients with diabetes had no insurance or were underinsured and could not afford the cost of even the most basic things like test strips. Today, the number of people with diabetes and no insurance has increased dramatically.
Many of those who come to us for help, like Brooke and her family (see right side bar), have already been turned down by government programs and by other diabetes charities.
Why? Because most organizations and pharmaceutical companies have program restrictions that are based on government standards, strict guidelines and/or whether or not a person has any insurance. Many assistance programs do not take into account how much someone is paying out of pocket for medical care and the hardship that medical expenses can cause. We do.
We also try to help those stuck in the Medicare "doughnut hole," something very few organizations do.
There may not be a cure for diabetes but today you can help us in our fight to put an end to one cause of death from diabetes – the lack of medical care, insulin, and diabetes supplies for those who cannot afford them.
