   Important Announcements

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  May 9, 2008.  Our computer is down and currently being worked on.  We apologize for any delays this may lead to in responding to emails or processing your donor receipts and client applications.  There was no compromise of data (our power supply and monitor are shot).

We are working as quickly as possibly to resolve our high-tech headaches!

IPump's assistance programs
(Click this button for more information)

CLOSED ENROLLMENT:  We are NOT accepting new applications for (IMAP) (Insulin Monthly Assistance Program); or financial assistance for a purchased pump through the  IPUMP program).  These programs are FULL.  Open enrollment will begin again in June 2008.  We will NOT accept applications for these programs postmarked after Tuesday, March 17, 2008.

OPEN ENROLLMENT:  REDS (free diabetes supplies); QD (quilts for children with diabetes); IPUMP (for recertified, used donated pumps).  Note:  We are NOT accepting new requests at this time for cash assistance towards co-pays for an insulin pump under the IPUMP program.

Please be sure to print out NEW applications (changed 01/01/08) before requesting assistance. As of February 1, 2008 we will NOT accept applications submitted in the old format.

How long does the application process take?  Read our FAQs

Please be patient with us!   Since we are the largest and ONLY full-service diabetes nonprofit in the U.S. you can imagine how busy we are.  Yet all that we do is accomplished by only one full-time, unpaid executive director at this time.  We try to return all non-urgent emails and calls within one week but we cannot tell you over the phone if you will be approved for assistance. Because we do not have a receptionist the fastest and best way to reach us is by EMAIL NOT BY PHONE.

EatSmart Nutrition Scale

OUR NEWEST SPONSOR!  EatSmart (read a review on Islets of Hope) has graciously offered to donate a percentage of each sale to IPump if you order their scale through our site.  Use this LINK to visit their site and get a 10% discount and raise much-needed funds for IPump!  (We have not been paid to advertise their product or for click-throughs.)

Missing a tax receipt?  Do you need another copy of your tax receipt for a 2007 donation?  Did we somehow miss sending you a receipt?  Please contact program-director@ipump.org and we will immediately send you a receipt for tax purposes.  Remember -- the cost of shipping in-kind donations to IPump are also tax deductible!

Our 2007 Financial Statement is posted!  We are pleased to report in 2007 95.02% of all funds spent were given directly to others in need.  Our combined program administration costs and business operating expenses were only 4.98% of our expenses.

Our New blog.  We have just created a blog to keep you updated about important IPump happenings as well as to offer our clients a place to thank our donors.   If you have received assistance through IPump we encourage you to use the blog to share your thanks with others.  Donors are wonderful people and give expecting nothing in return but still, it feels really good to receive a simple thank you!

We especially need spare insulin pump supplies for any
Medtronic MiniMed Paradigm insulin pump models

We have been receiving many requests for insulin pump supplies for Medtronic MiniMed Paradigm insulin pumps incldug BD test strips.  Because Paradigms are newer pumps  we receive very few donations for Paradigm supplies.  The Paradigm pumps cannot use older style reservoirs or infusion sets so if you have ANY spare Paradigm supplies please send them to us.  Your donation is tax deductible and can help someone else stay on their pump longer.

We also have approved applicants that need Animas IR 1200 supplies.

   Quilting Program Updates

Effective 01/01/08 User Fee will be charged for free quilts.  ... We have shipped more than 60 quilts but to date only four caring folks have contributed anything to this program. Therefore, beginning January 1, 2008 we will be charging a User Fee to all those who order free quilts for their child with diabetes. Read More ...

   Urgent Supply Needs

Diabetes supplies.  We urgently need all kinds of diabetes blood glucose test strips and basic diabetes care supplies.  Please DO NOT send us expired items or used items that have been contaminated by blood.  We are not able to give them away. According to federal and state laws it is illegal to redistribute medical items that have expired or been contaminated with blood.

Quilts.  We are always grateful for finished quilts, quilt blocks, and quilt tops.  99% of all quilts we give away are sewn (from donated materials) by our (very busy) volunteer CEO and her two young daughters (ages 8 and 12).  Please help us sew quilts!

Elizabeth Rose, inspiration for IPump  IPump was founded in 2006 by Lahle Wolfe, a diabetic, single mother of four. When her youngest daughter was also diagnosed with diabetes the medical bills piled up.  Wolfe struggled to make ends meet but was unable to find assistance.

Once faced with having to choose between food and medical needs, she triumphed over her own hardships and now devotes her life to helping other diabetics in need.

Wolfe works full-time as a volunteer CEO and acting Executive Director for the organization.

IPump.org, Inc. is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) public charity.  Your financial support and in-kind donations are tax deductible.
